A Rushton Hall Wedding - Jessica & Thomas

  • YOU GUYS? …WHAT DO YOU DO?..HOW DO YOU SPEND YOUR DAYS?..WHAT’S IMPORTANT IN LIFE?

We first met in our first degree when we both did Biochemistry, but we both went on to study medicine and are now both doctors Our working days are very long and busy and on call commitments means that we end up having limited free time together In our spare time we enjoy eating out, watching films, going travelling, and recently learnt to ski together

  • THE PROPOSAL? …TELL ME EVERYTHING

As Doctors, we go on a medical elective period where you spend a period of time in a different country experiencing how hospitals function in those countries etc. For my elective In 2019 I went with 3 other friends Emma, Ellen and Laura (who are all bridesmaids) to Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand. Tom joined us for the last 3 weeks of the trip. The year before Ellen was planning her wedding and was keeping everything very secret but she said to Tom 'if you tell me when you're planning to propose to Jess, I'll show you a picture of my wedding dress'. So he had always planned to do it during my elective at some time, but he knew I was very keen to choose the ring together so he brought a Swarowski ring for the engagement in a similar to style to what my actual wedding ring turned out to be. At the time we were on a Vietnamese island called Phi Quoc, Ellen was ill during the trip so one day me and Tom hired some scooters and went off on our own down the coast to a pearl shop to buy a present for my mum. On the way back we stopped off at a private beach club called Blue Bar for lunch and drinks. We were the only people on the beach so it felt very romantic. At this point Tom said something and was then down on one knee asking me to marry him, it happened so fast I can't even remember what he had said before. The rest as they say is history! That evening we all went to a beach for drinks to celebrate and then the hosts at our accommodation had put aside a special cabin for us and we had a private dinner.

  • WHY DID YOU CHOOSE YOUR WEDDING VENUE OVER OTHERS?

It was important for us for our guests to be able to spend as much of the day with us as possible so we need a large enough venue for people to be able to stay over if they wanted to. This doesn't leave you with a lot of options. We also have family spread out across the country from Scarborough to Southampton so a middle point was most practical. Plus, the venue is beautiful! (and not a barn)

  • WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO HAVE YOUR WEDDING DAY FILMED AND WHY DID YOU PICK ME?

Several of our friends have gotten married recently and they have all said that having a film of the day was something they had under appreciated and turned out to be one of their favourite ways of remembering and sharing their day, also we've both loved watching back our parents wedding videos 20-30 years later and getting to see people who have changed but also people who are no longer with us. When we met you we both got such a good feeling and vibe straight away, then when we saw your work we were so impressed we just knew you were the person we wanted to be our videographer.

  • WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST HOPE FOR YOUR WEDDING DAY?

That everyone has a fabulous time and forgets about COVID and the horrible times we've had over the past year.

Congratulations guys! You smashed it!
